The Importance of Proper Ductwork Installation

The Importance of Proper Ductwork Installation

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Ductwork is used in ventilation, heating and air conditioning. Improperly designed air vents may affect the air pressure and overall equilibrium of the air flow in the space. In the latest blog post from Vent Logistics, we discuss ducting systems in more detail.

What is Ductwork Made of?

Air ducts are typically made of metal such as galvanised steel or aluminium, but may also be made of plastic or polyurethane duct board. Ductwork can vary greatly in length, depending on the requirements of the space you have, and can span more than 30 feet.

If a ductwork system is not installed properly, you may get an air leakage which will dramatically decrease the efficiency of the system. There are many components that may make up a comprehensive ducting system including:

Air handling/Heat recovery units
Air terminals
Stacks, boots, and heads
Terminal units
Stacks, boots, and heads
Vibration isolators

Size matters when it comes to ductwork and it is vital that the system installed is properly sized to provide the amount of airflow you need for your building. If the ducting system is too small, not enough air will be able to travel through the system which could produce an uncomfortable environment. On the other hand, a ducting system that is too large will be highly inefficient and could drive up your heating and cooling expenses.

Here at Vent Logistics, we have been offering and installing bespoke ventilation systems for many years, utilising a variety of features such as extraction canopies and systems, filters, attenuators and ductwork. If you have a commercial or industrial premises that requires the installation of a bespoke ventilation system, we welcome you to contact us.
